Call me an Onnit fanboy or a disciple of Rogan and I will not disagree. Listening to his podcast has changed my life and helped me lose weight, get in shape, and eat healthier. Without the knowledge that he passes on to his listeners, I’d be a lot bigger and growing fatter with each passing day. The amount of fruits and vegetables I used to eat in a month I now eat in a day.
On the topic of salt, you would think that salt is something you would want to eliminate from your diet, not add to it. But like many other minerals, salt is something our bodies need, albeit in limited amounts. What type of salt you eat is also very important. After Dave Asprey’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, I decided to look into Onnit’s Pink Himalayan Salt.
I touched on this in an earlier blog post, but pink Himalayan salt is so much better for you than traditional table salt because it is packed with over 80 minerals that refined table salt is lacking. That’s why table salt is white. The lack of color indicates the absence of these minerals. The pink color of Himalayan salt is visual evidence that the salt is packed with the full spectrum of minerals your body needs.
Onnit recently added Pink Himalayan Salt to its store and I picked up a bottle and have used it in place of regular table salt. Despite its name, the salt doesn’t taste overly salty, at least not in the way we’re accustomed to salt tasting. It actually has a full, deep flavor with a mild salty taste, rather than simply a salty taste. It’s hard to explain and something that needs to be experienced. If you’ve thought about limiting your salt intake, consider replacing your table salt with Pink Himalayn Salt from Onnit. Best of all, it’s Kosher and comes with a little spoon attached to the jar!
