Onnit Fourth of July 2014 Sale: Save 15% Off Hemp Force Products

Onnit Fourth of July 2014 Sale: Save 15% Off Hemp Force ProductsOnnit hasn’t officially said this is its 2014 Fourth of July sale, but it’s safe to say that this will be all that’s offered, since the sale starts today and extends to the end of July 9th.

All Hemp Force products–that’s the Hemp Force ChocoMaca and Hemp Force Vanill-Acai protein powders and the Hemp Force Vanill-Acai bars–are now on sale at a savings of 15% off. If you buy the twin pack of protein powders you save even more, around 25% off the regular retail price.

As I said, this is likely the only sale Onnit Labs will have this Fourth of July long weekend. There’s no coupon code to enter, the prices have simply been reduced on the website. The sale is on right now and goes until 11:59PM PST on Wednesday, July 9, 2014.

Why Hemp Protein is Better than Whey Protein

Why Hemp Protein is Better than Whey ProteinWhether you’re an athlete or just a regular guy who’s looking to add a little protein extra protein to your diet, you may have considered trying a protein powder supplement. They’re so versatile because as a powder, it’s easy to stir it into some oatmeal you’re eating or add a couple scoops to your morning smoothie. The difficult part could be choosing the type of protein powder to use.

For many bodybuilders and weight lifters, the obvious choice is a whey-based protein powder. With so many different brands and types of whey-based protein powder on the market, whey must be the best option, right? Not necessarily. Whey protein is a good source of protein, but it does have its downsides.

Joe Rogan has stated many times on his podcast that he’s tried a lot of whey protein powders over the years and they all lead to bloating. Whey protein is hard for the body to digest and the result of this is bloating and discomfort. If you’re intolerant to dairy products, you won’t be able to consume whey protein, as it’s made from an isolated liquid during the production of cheese.

Whey protein powder also tends to be loaded with sugars, artificial colors and flavors, and they’re usually devoid of anything else healthy. If you’re looking for protein to bulk up, whey is a good choice, but it’s not a healthy one.

At the other end of the spectrum is hemp protein powder, such as Onnit’s Hemp Force ChocoMaca and Vanill-Acai protein powder. Both varities are made from hemp seeds imported from Canada, are high in fiber, easily digestible so you won’t get cramps, they’re free of dairy, lactose, and soy, are a good source of essential fatty acids, and they only contain natural ingredients.

If you’re going to choose a protein powder, why not choose one that’s full of stuff that’s actually good for you rather than stuff that can make you feel bad?

This post was inspired by a great infographic posted on the Onnit Academy blog that illustrates the benefits of hemp protein over whey. Check it out for more information.

Is Too Much Protein Bad?

Is Too Much Protein Bad?With 2014 lurking just around the corner, I’m sure many of us will be looking into diets and exploring what foods we should eat to lose weight. I’ve written about this topic many times in the past, including a few blog posts about foods that will help you feel more full for a longer period of time. One way to achieve this is by eating protein.

A mistake that I once made that I’m sure many other people will make is to load up on protein. It makes sense, right? If protein fills you up, just drink a couple protein shakes mixed with fruits and veggies and you’ll be good for the day while keeping your calorie intake to a minimum. The one caveat is that you need to burn that protein.

Your body requires a certain amount of protein. Once you reach that limit, the excess is converted into energy. When you have a surplus of energy–meaning you’re not physically burning it off–the body converts it into fat. So if you plan on making a couple of smoothies each day loaded with protein powder, you need to exercise hard to make use of the protein. Any extra could potentially be turned into fat, making you gain weight rather than lose it.

So how much protein should you eat each day? About 50g to 100g of protein is the recommended daily amount of protein that you should be consuming. When choosing a protein powder, try looking for one that’s balanced with other ingredients, such as fiber. Manitoba Harvest makes a variety of hemp protein powders with different percentages of protein. Onnit also has Hemp Force protein powder which is balanced out with other nutritional ingredients that your body will use, so you’re not just loading up on protein and gaining weight as a result.

This is all I’m going to say on the Onnit Cyber Monday Sale. Below is the breakdown of the savings:

Save Up to 25% During Onnit’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sale

Save Up to 25% During Onnit's Black Friday/Cyber Monday SaleIn my post earlier today I mentioned how I was going to tone down the Onnit posts on this blog, so I’ll keep this one short and sweet.

Like every other online and brick and mortar store, Onnit is having a sale this Black Friday, and it’s the best one of the year. If there are any supplements supplements, foods, package deals, or fitness gear that you’ve had your eye on, now’s the time to pull the trigger. Some of this stuff can also make a great Christmas gift as well, so there’s that to think about too. At any rate, there are some great deals, so act quickly, because some of this stuff is sure to go out of stock over the weekend.

And for the record, this sale includes everything from Primal Bells and Zombie Bells to Onnit 180 drink mix, Total Primate Care, Hemp Force, T+ testosterone booster, Alpha Brain, Blendtec blenders, and everything else.

Here’s the breakdown of the savings during Onnit’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale:

This sale starts on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 12AM EST. So to those of us who don’t go to bed at 9PM, this means Thursday night at midnight everything goes on sale. The sale is on all weekend and concludes on Cyber Monday (Monday, December 2, 2013) at 11:59 PST. Remember that PST is actually three hours behind EST, so that would really be 2:59AM EST. Confused yet? Me too. Not sure why Onnit chose to list these times in two time zones, but there you have it. Visit onnit.com sometime this weekend after midnight tonight (but before midnight on Monday night) and you can save up to 25% off everything.
