Let me preface this Onnit New Mood review by saying that New Mood isn’t an anti-depressant. It shouldn’t be considered medicine if you have been diagnosed with depression, and you certainly shouldn’t go off any medications that you are taking for depression in favor of New Mood. That being said, if you find that you’re not as happy or relaxed as you should be, New Mood could provide you with a boost to lead a happier, less cloudy day.
Serotonin is a brain chemical that is linked to being happy, feeling positive, and generally being in a good mood. New Mood was created with a variety vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, including 5-HTP and L-tryptophan. 5-HTP is the precursor to serotonin, which helps improve mood and positivity. L-tryptophan is converted by the body into H-HTP, and then into serotonin. What this provides is a slow release, helping you to feel good throughout the day rather than just after taking the supplement.
A few of the other ingredients in New Mood include magnesium and vitamin B6, both of which help the body feel better, as I wrote in yesterday’s Foods That Fight Depression blog post. In addition, New Mood includes chamomile–perhaps the most relaxing herb found on earth–Valerian root, known for aiding in sleep, and jujube (or zyzyphus), an extract that helps relax and reduce stress.
As you can see, Onnit’s New Mood supplement is packed with natural ingredients, all of which have a proven effect on having a positive outlook and maintaining a relaxed mood throughout the day. I have been taking New Mood for a few months now and can definitely attest to its ability to make me feel better. It helps me to remain calm and focused when in the past I would have been flustered and scatterbrained. At the end of the day, I find I’m no longer stressed, and I’m able to decompress, relax, and get a good night’s sleep instead of worrying about what happened today and what’s going to happen tomorrow.
